Police Education
Police education is something that can be gained in many different forms. For example, it is definitely possible to gain police education through a public community college as in fact many states primarily recruit their cops through this method. There are many cases however where it is better to go to a focused state-run police academy for police education instead and there are some cases where a combination of the two is really the way to go. No matter what type of police education you get however, there is one thing in common that you need to do for all of them.
That one thing that you need to do is fulfill the requirements required by the regulatory agency of the area in question. Each state in the United States has a regulatory agency and the federal government has one too. The same is true for provinces in Canada and the federal government. The same is true in many places in Europe and Asia as well. Policing is a state job and because of that all of the different regions regulate how they want the education of a police officer to take place. If you are joining your local city force or your regional force, chances are good that you will look to the regional body for educational requirements. If you are joining a national force, the federal government is likely where you want to turn for advice.
Regardless of the actual police education that takes place, all of them have certain things in common that you can figure out with common sense. Minimum physical requirements are an obvious one for new officer cadets. The same is true for basic academic aptitude as demonstrated by holding a high school diploma. These are minimum requirements in just about any police force around the world, although it is probably going to be the case that your police force of interest might require additional training as well for police education graduation.
